Do you have a habit of thinking the worst and then feeling stressed and anxious?

To stop catastrophizing use these steps:

1) STOP: Find a quiet place and take a few minutes to focus on feeling calmer. Take the time to really calm that inner voice. Let your breathing relax.

2) THINK: Challenge those automatic thoughts by asking yourself what makes this situation so terrible? Really consider whether you are making a mountain out of a molehill or exaggerating the problem. Are you just thinking the worst without considering alternatives that are ok or even good?

3) ACT: Having started to get a handle on those thoughts, decide what action, if any, you need to take in the next 24 hours and come up with a plan. Write it down.

4) GO: With increased calmness and perspective, start taking that action.
